I'm going to run the first ever art contest for Surreal Grotesque. I have people working on the covers for the August and September issues but for October, our Halloween Issue, I want someone to design the cover.
I want something truly unique and bizarre, disturbing and strange. Try to think outside of the box. No jack o' lantern images, no witches, no black cats but a truly unique image of what you think of when you think of Halloween but in an abstract way. There will be a small cash prize, 30 dollars, a weirdass prize package full of goodies I will mail to the winner and you will even get to be murdered by me in a flash fiction story in a really horrible and brutal way.
Runners up will still get their work featured in the mag as part of a special Halloween gallery and everyone who enters gets to link their webpage to our "Artists We Love" section of the magazine. Is that a good incentive? So enter if you are interested or spread the word about the contest to other artists. I would love to have as many entries as possible. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I think this magazine sort of lends itself to that theme.
Again, the site is www.surrealgrotesque.com as always and all entries can be sent to dangrn77@hotmail.com under HALLOWEEN CONTEST. I am accepting entries from now until august 31st for the Oct. issue. Rules: No multiple entries, no character copyrighted images, the words SURREAL GROTESQUE ISSUE 6 must be incorporated into the top of the image or room left on top for me to enter the title of the mag onto the image without overshadowing it. Thank you and like this if you think this is a good idea for a contest.
